An experimental device designed by Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory and known as "Doppler" is now scheduled to be ready for firing Monday morning, August 19.
The Shot is scheduled for 5:30 a.m. PDT with the device to be suspended beneath a 75-foot diameter balloon at 1500 feet above Area 7b of Yucca Flat.
There will be eight experiments on the sequence timer. If Doppler is fired before Shasta there will be 500 troop observers in trenches at 3500 yards from ground zero. Approximately 30 aircraft will participate.
The Doppler experimental device has a designed yield in the general range of half nominal.
This is not one of the shots on the list of those to which newsmen were to be admitted during Plumbbob.
